BIO

Dr Niu is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with special interest and Fellowship training in conditions of the elbow and shoulder; including arthroscopic minimally invasive surgery, joint arthroplasty, treatment of a spectrum of sports injuries and degenerative conditions.

In 2007, he graduated from Medicine at the University of New South Wales with First Class Honours. He went on to undertake his Advanced Orthopaedics Surgery training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. In 2016, Dr Niu received his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. Dr Niu’s specialty was solidified in his Fellowship at Sydney Shoulder Research Institute. He went on further to gain international experience in the United States and France; learning from world-renowned surgeons on advanced techniques in Elbow and Shoulder surgery.

Dr Niu is passionate about education as well as training and research. He is a current faculty with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST), teaching junior doctors to be proficient clinicians.

Dr Niu believes treatment is multifaceted in which surgery is one option. Dr Niu’s empathetic bedside manner and divergent thinking allows him to work closely with the patient and their practitioner to find the best option and management plan.
